Why We Exist
“The Nexa Centre (NEC) was founded to close the painful gap between education and real life”
In Somaliland, too many young people finish school or even university with certificates — but no direction, no practical skills, and no confidence in how to move forward.
NEC exists to change that story.
We believe education must be more than theory. It should equip youth with the tools to grow, to work, to lead, and to live meaningfully. That’s why we provide grassroots training in essential life skills, personal development, and real-world competencies.
Many students in Somaliland graduate without ever learning how to write a CV, prepare for an interview, write a report, or even express themselves confidently. When they are hired into organizations or government offices, they arrive with hope — but without the training needed to succeed. This is not their fault. It is a failure of the system. And it’s one that NEC is built to fix.
We teach students early — before graduation — how to succeed after graduation.
We offer training in writing, public speaking, planning, communication, and critical thinking. We guide students in how to choose the right career path. And we help them build real experience through internships and volunteering, so that by the time they are ready to work, they are truly ready.
We also train educators to lead with clarity and purpose, and we teach epistemology so students learn how to think, not just what to think — especially in a world full of noise, manipulation, and misinformation.
NEC is not just a centre. It is a movement — a commitment to creating a new kind of graduate in Somaliland: capable, confident, conscious, and community-minded.

Nexa Centre exists to guide, train, and prepare Form 4 graduates, university students, and fresh graduates in Somaliland by offering practical, no-cost training programs on life skills, employability, academic improvement, and intellectual engagement—ensuring they are work-ready, resilient, and self-aware.
