1. Course Description
International Political Economy (IPE) examines the relationship between politics and economics in the global system. The course explores how states, markets, and international institutions shape economic relations between countries and influence the distribution of power and wealth in the international system.
Students will study major theoretical perspectives in International Political Economy, including liberalism, economic nationalism, and Marxist or structuralist approaches. The course also analyzes global economic processes such as international trade, financial systems, development, and globalization.
Particular attention will be given to the role of international institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and World Trade Organization in global economic governance.
