Students analyze cases from Somalia, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Sudan, and South Sudan, while connecting local political and security dynamics to Red Sea geopolitics and wider international strategic competition. Through readings, lectures, quizzes, and applied case analysis, learners practice distinguishing structural causes from immediate triggers of conflict, comparing national experiences across the region, and critically evaluating the effectiveness of security and governance policies.
